  HOTEL INFORMATION

The Hurdes Reales Boutique Hotel is built on the site of an old factory which, together with two other factories, was built in 1922 to mark the visit of King Alfonso XIII to the Extremaduran district of Las Hurdes. The Monarch’s personal connection with the area played an important role in the decision to create a Royal Patronage. The result was the construction of this type of factory and a boost to the economy of this area to the north of Cáceres. This factory, which took the name of Alfoso XIII, is in the town of Las Mestas, one of the most important areas in Extremadura for the production of honey and pollen, which is famed beyond the borders of the region.

This two storey building has been created with materials that are in keeping with the typical mountain constructions in the Hurdes area. The final result is a building which is both very attractive and perfect in terms of its functionality and comfort. As a result the hotel has been given a four star classification.

Hall de la Hospedería

                                 Hall Boutique Hotel

The Hotel has 26 double rooms (two of them adapted for the disabled) from which our guests can contemplate the beautiful natural scenery. The large forests, the typical architecture of the area, the crystalline waters of the nearby streams and rivers, and above all the friendliness of the people, combine to create an environment which is very special for everyone, Extremadurans and those from other regions or Portugal alike, who comes to enjoy this area.

The way that the building has been exceptionally restored and adapted to its new role as a Hotel has made it into one of the most attractive and unique Hotels in the north of Extremadura. It also offers guests a wonderful gastronomic experience and the chance to discover the large number of marked routes through areas as spectacular as the meanderings of the river Alagón in the nearby town of Riomalo de Abajo or the Batuecas mountain range with its large number of birds of prey and its special game animals.

SURROUNDING AREA

Guests can discover beautiful corners where the local buildings have been preserved. The traditional local custom is to construct using stone and wood for the building and typical black slate for the roof.

Jardín de la Hospedería

                                        Boutique Hotel Garden

The Town Hall in Casares is a surprisingly good example of this type of traditional architecture, although it is in La Huerta and El Robledo where the best preserved examples of this unique building style can be found. Guests can also discover some interesting petroglyphs in Ladrillar, Vegas de Coria, El Gasco, Cerezal, La Fragosa and Aceitunilla.

Three deeply rooted cultures from the Peninsular coexist in the town of Casar de Palomero: the Christians, the Jews and the Arabs. Part of the old Jewish Quarter has been preserved. Amongst the religious buildings to be found we can highlight the Iglesia del Espíritu Santo church which dates from the eighteenth century and the Ermita de la Cruz Bendita Hermitage.

Cambroncino has one of the most attractive religious buildings in Las Hurdes, its iglesia de Santa Catalina church, which dates back to the early eighth century and has been constructed using slate and brick.
